The Weg Chair is the result of my meeting and friendship with the designer/craftsman Morito Ebine, and translates in its design and constructive techniques part of what I could learn from his work and the symbiosis between my conception of volume and the oriental aesthetics present in his work . The inspiring source common to the two creators was the work of Hans Wegner, hence the name of the piece, with one more meaning: “Weg” in German means “Path”, and this piece marks for me the beginning of a new path in work with wood. The production process of this chair requires more than 50 guides and jigs, in an assembly of parts that connect only through precise fittings, without the use of screws. The piece is then finished with Indian shellac or oil.
