Giraffe is my “self-portrait”. The long, elongated structure of this piece reminds us of the animal as well as the sculptural work of Giacometti. Its seat is the height of a bar stool seat accompained by a footrest, with the added comfort of the high backrest that gently accommodates the user’s back and head. The creation process follows the sequence of my sculptural creations, initiated by exploratory sketches followed by the modeling of the piece on a natural scale for formal study. From the mold, the wood is cut, glued and pressed, and then proceed to roughing and finishing.
